FAMED VALLEY RESTAURANT, MICHAEL’S AT THE
CITADEL, RELOCATES TO
OPEN NEW RESTAURANT AND MARKET CONCEPTS AT
CENTERPOINT CONDOMINIUMS
-End of a Decade, Beginning of a New
Era as Renowned Chef Michael DeMaria
Prepares for Ground-Breaking New Venture-
TEMPE, Ariz. (May 29, 2007) – Michael’s
at the Citadel, the namesake restaurant
of celebrity Chef Michael DeMaria, located
in the high Sonoran Desert of North
Scottsdale, officially ends its lease today
after a decade of success.
The decision for co-owners Chef Michael and
Brandon Maxwell to close their famed
Michael’s at the Citadel is to
allow the duo the year they need to focus on
all of the fine details of their
ground-breaking new ventures, Trattoria M
and Centro.
Chef Michael and Brandon
Maxwell formed a unique partnership with
Avenue Communities, LLC - which designs and
develops innovative urban living communities
with a strong focus on unique lifestyle
considerations - to open their signature
Italian restaurant, Trattoria M, and
kitchen, market and café concept, Centro,
in 6,500 square-feet
of the plaza level of Avenue Communities’
much anticipated Centerpoint Condominiums in
the Mill District.
“I am hanging my hat at Trattoria M,”
says Chef Michael DeMaria, Co-Owner,
Trattoria M. “The new restaurant and
market concepts go beyond any of my wildest
dreams. We are going to be offering a
unique experience that is new not only to
the Valley, but to the restaurant world as
we know it; and Avenue Communities’
attention and dedication to amenity-rich
living provides the perfect opportunity for
us. We were fortunate to have a
long-standing relationship with many loyal
customers at Michael’s at the Citadel,
and we are now looking forward to enjoying
many more years with them at Trattoria M.”
The ambiance of Trattoria M will
feature old world Italy, juxtaposed with
urban contemporary flare. Trattoria M
will have a diversity of eclectic venues
within the restaurant to cater to any
desired experience from casual Italian
dining to social lounging. The main dining
room will feature rustic wood-top tables,
with a blue, mustard and sage color design
palette, and retro, upbeat music.
Possibly the most unique element of
Trattoria M will be the blue lit,
circular glass encased “Wine Aficionado
Room” that seats six. This working wine
cellar is surrounded by approximately 2,400
bottles of vintages from around the
world that spiral down the length of
the room to appear suspended on the
walls and can be reached only by 12’
high “library” ladders. The room provides
an intimate venue for the restaurant’s wine
sommelier to offer
wine tastings while guests enjoy a
four-course meal paired with selected
wines.
